Obesity is having an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity is a cosmetic concern. But more importantly it increases your risk of diseases and health problem such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Some common symptoms associated with obesity include: difficulty sleeping, snoring, pain in the back and joints, excessive sweating, rashes, infections, fatigue, and depression.
I chose to research obesity because one in three American adults is considered to be obese. And not only are there physical affects of being obese but emotional and mental issues also. Some of these emotional and mental issues include: social discrimination, low self-esteem, and even thoughts of ending life. It is sad to witness so many give up living instead of exercising and eating healthy. It begins with education and it should start with educating young children. I am extremely saddened by the crisis of obesity. And this is a disease that is treatable and can be cured with a little motivation and support.
